How to Get Smoke Smell Out of Wood Furniture with OdoBan Odor Eliminator

Need to know how to remove the smoke odor from wood furniture? The smoke smell from cigarette smoke, cigar smoke, or even house fire smoke can remain on wood furniture, leaving a stale, strong smoke odor in your house. If you’re looking for the best way to remove smoke odors on wood furniture, we’re here to help.

In this post, we’ll cover how to use OdoBan® Disinfectant and Odor Eliminator on your wood furniture to get rid of the smoke smell. OdoBan® is a multipurpose cleaning product and odor eliminator that eliminates smoke odors at the source.

OdoBan® is available in a Ready-to-Use spray and an economical concentrated formula. When using OdoBan® concentrate to eliminate smoke odors on wood furniture, create a use-solution by mixing 22 ounces of OdoBan® concentrate per gallon of water.

For a standard 32-ounce spray bottle, add 5.5 ounces of OdoBan® concentrate before filling the rest of the bottle with water. Learn more about mixing OdoBan® concentrate here

OdoBan® concentrate comes in a variety of fresh scents. Our most popular OdoBan® scent for eliminating strong odors is Original Eucalyptus. This unique fragrance is based on a diverse blend of wildflowers and botanicals that can be traced back through thousands of years of use against bad smells.

Wood is a unique material with different surface types that smoke odors can cling to. Finished wood exteriors can retain smoke residue from cigarettes and other smoke sources, while unfinished wood surfaces (often the hidden wood surfaces, like wooden drawers) can act like a soft surface, trapping smoke odors.

OdoBan® eliminates smoke odors at the source and is the best smoke odor eliminator.

Smoke residue can build up on exterior wood surfaces over time, contributing to a strong smoke smell on wood furniture. A surface cleaning of your finished wood exteriors will help get rid of stubborn smoke odors.

Use a mild, wood-safe cleaner and microfiber cloth to clean the exterior wood surfaces, making sure to wipe away any debris or other smoke build up.

A mild cleaner with hydrogen peroxide is recommended and should be safe for most wood finishes. However, always test cleaning products on a small inconspicuous area for colorfastness before using on a new surface.

Unfinished wood surfaces, like the inside surfaces of wood furniture, the underside of a wood table, or wooden drawers, can trap in smoke odors like a sponge.

To get rid of smoke odors on unfinished wood surfaces, spray a light mist of OdoBan® Disinfectant and Odor Eliminator over these surfaces. Coat each unfinished wood surface with OdoBan®, but take care not to flood or oversaturate the unfinished wood surface.

Allow the OdoBan® to sit for a few minutes before wiping away with a microfiber cloth.

Allow all unfinished wood surfaces to dry in an area with good air flow. After drying, keep the wood furniture in an area with maximum air flow.

It takes time to eliminate smoke odors on wood. Allow the treated wood to remain in an area with good airflow, and repeat the OdoBan® treatment on unfinished wood surfaces, as necessary.

Depending on how saturated with smoke the wood surfaces are, it may take days, weeks, or months before the smoke odor is completely removed.
