Allow OdoBan to sit for 10 minutes, before press drying with a clean cloth. Do not scrub. Repeat press drying until cloth comes away dry. A carpet extractor or wet vacuum may also be used. Proper drying is critical. Repeat application and drying, as needed.
How to Get Rid of Urine Smell from Big Carpet Areas
Next, we’ll cover how to remove pet odor from large areas of carpet. For this, we recommend using a carpet cleaning machine, also known as a carpet extractor. When choosing a pet odor carpet cleaning machine for OdoBan, use a machine that will not heat the OdoBan solution, or has the ability to turn heat off. Do not use OdoBan with steam cleaners.
Carpet extraction cleaners inject OdoBan solution deep into carpet fibers, while the brushes agitate and loosen pet urine stains. Then, powerful suction extracts the OdoBan solution back out of the carpet.
There are many different carpet cleaning machines available at different price points. Many affordable pet urine carpet cleaning machines for home use are available. These machines are typically upright and look like a traditional upright vacuum cleaner.
Larger, professional-style carpet cleaners are often available to rent at hardware stores. Among other benefits, these machines have bigger tanks with larger capacities for cleaning solution, allowing you to clean larger areas of carpet without as much emptying and refilling.
To make an OdoBan pet urine remover for a carpet cleaning machine, you’ll want to mix 8 ounces (one cup) of OdoBan concentrate per gallon of water.
Add this diluted OdoBan solution to the carpet cleaner machine before use. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions when using a carpet cleaning machine with OdoBan, but do not use heat or steam. Empty or drain the OdoBan solution and replace with fresh OdoBan solution, as needed. Extract or recover the cleaning solution as completely as possible. Proper drying is critical.
After use, allow the carpet to completely dry. If babies, infants, or very sensitive pets will contact the carpet, follow up with a plain water extraction to minimize cleaner residue on the carpet. To do this, run the carpet cleaning machine over the area without OdoBan solution, instead, only using plain water.
