I’d like to try and answer the question that’s on everyone’s mind: “Does OdoBan kill the coronavirus?”.

No disinfectants on the market today have actually been tested on the real SARS-Cov-2 virus that causes COVID-19, so we can’t easily answer “yes” or “no”. This virus is too new for there to have been lab testing procedures set up, and those procedures may not exist for years. We do know that the SARS-CoV-2 virus is an enveloped virus, which is normally the easiest class of viruses to kill on surfaces. We have also begun laboratory testing our disinfectants against the previously known Human Coronavirus.

This virus outbreak is a continually evolving situation. The best way to separate fact from fear is to follow the website of the Centers for Disease Control for the latest, trusted information. Right now, on the CDC website “How to Protect Yourself” page, it says to clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. It also says, “Most common EPA-registered household disinfectants will work.”

The CDC also points out that while cleaning is important, proper handwashing, respiratory hygiene, and distancing yourself is likely much more important. The main vector of transmission for this disease is direct person-to-person contact.

The OdoBan team is working record amounts of overtime right now to keep the supply of OdoBan disinfectant rolling out to stores nationwide. From our OdoBan family to yours, stay safe, take whatever measures you need to protect yourselves, and remember – be nice to each other. These are trying times but together we can get through it.
